VSCLS Student Scholarship


The Virginia Society for Clinical Laboratory Science is pleased to announce Anna Brownfield as the recipient of the 2009-2010 scholarship.

Anna is currently enrolled in the Rockingham Memorial Hospital School of Medical Technology and will graduate June 2010. Anna attended Mary Washington and graduated as valedictorian. Anna has worked as a vet assistant and inventory manager at a vet hospital. She loves animals, especially dogs. She loves science, in particular, laboratory science and she enjoys reading fiction. Anna is interested in becoming an educator in CLS or a manager of a lab. Anna has managed to put herself through school without outside financial assistance and also maintain an exceptional academic record. It was noted by Anna's program director that Anna has consistently performed at the top 1% of all the students she has taught.

 


VSCLS SCHOLARSHIPS

Traditionally, the Virginia Society for Clinical Laboratory Science offers scholarships to eligible clinical laboratory students participating in their final year of education. The number and amount of the scholarships available are determined on a yearly basis.

ELIGIBILITY

The applicant shall be entering the final clinical year of their clinical laboratory education in an accredited program in the Commonwealth of Virginia. This includes: CLS/MT, CLT/MLT, Cytology and Histology. The applicant shall be in good standing in the program both academically and professionally, according to the school’s policies. The applicant shall not have received any previous financial assistance from VSCLS.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Final selection of recipients shall be made by an impartial committee of VSCLS members. Selection shall be based on:

  1. Financial Need
  2. Academic Record
  3. References
  4. Completeness of Application
